About stuff- What's with this thing?

Do you ever wake up at 3am, clawing at the existential dread of late stage capitalism? Yeah. Same. Apparently that is not how you start an About Me on a website, but here we are.

I work in human services and always have. I love the work, but the sheer volume of human suffering is a trip. So after an injury and a bout of illness benched me from my usual sports and hobbies, I started art-ing as a way to keep my brain from sinking too deep into the void.

Hullabalou is my midlife attempt at building something neat that able to piss excellence into the ether. While my big dream would be to support a social enterprise that actually gives people a go, without requiring them to grovel for funding or charm whoever is in power that month… I’m also good if it just supports other things that are covering earth in piss… of excellence.

Apart from covering costs, money from my prints goes straight back into community action, mutual aid and social enterprise work. That is the whole point.

The long term play would be to buy a large format printer that people who have experienced homelessness or unemployment can use to create materials for human services work. Eventually I would love to expand into uniforms and practical resources so services aren’t dependent on institutional pandering to get the basics.

But right now? I make art to keep the void at bay. If you support Hullabalou, you help build something that might make life a bit less cooked and, frankly, you give me the emotional pat on the head I pretend I do not need.
